The Upshot and Innovation of the Green Button Initiative
The U.S. Department of Energy and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy released an article today that demonstrates how the electric industry and community are responding to the Green Button Initiative. Since the Initiative was launched in 2012 it has made headway with both industry and consumers. Today, more than 150 utility and service providers have committed to providing over 60 million U.S. households with access to their own Green Button energy data. The article highlights the Green Button Alliance, the Connect My Data program, international adoption and use of Green Button data in contests such as SDG&E's Second Annual Energy Conservation Competition and the SunShot Catalyst Program.
