Low Emission Development Strategies on OpenEI

The U.S. Department of Energy and NREL have developed the Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS), an advanced toolkit designed to engage countries as stewards of a lower emission future. The LEDS methodology, developed in coordination with international partners and U.S. government agencies, details the strategy, starting with the scoping and planning phase, and taking national leaders, stakeholders, and technical advisory groups all the way through the process to the implementation phase of a LEDS project.

The LEDS page on OpenEI contains the actual toolkit. Users are redirected to the VIBE portal, a site which contains numerous visual applications and gadgets related to renewable energy, and they can view a list of LEDS projects underway. Also, users can query projects by location and by what progress has been made in their development. This is an example of another very useful tool made transparent and collaborative on OpenEI.
