Federal grant to promote renewable energy education in Idaho

The Department of Commerce, through a federal grant, recently awarded the College of Southern Idaho $4.4 million for the development of a new Applied Technology and Innovation Center. The center will serve as a training and support center for students who are interested in gaining training and expertise in the renewable energy industry.

The Twin Falls Community College, where the new center will be built, and the rest of Southern Idaho have shown interest in joining the green energy movement. The demand in the region for skilled workers to help with new green projects is growing, and the new center hopes it can meet that demand. The building itself, a 29,000 square foot building, will itself serve as a reminder that the aim is green energy, upholding many energy efficiency standards.
